Caribbean Tan
On the day of your tan
In the morning of the day of your tan please exfoliate your whole body. Exfoliation will remove dead skin that would otherwise flake off and thereby helps to promote even coverage and the duration of your tan. Whilst exfoliating please pay particular attention to your calves, knees, ankles, top of feet, toes, knuckles and elbows.
Do not apply any lotions, deodarants, perfumes or make-up – absolutely nothing. Not only can they act as a barrier and prevent the spray from making contact with the skin but there is a possibility the tan will turn green!
What to wear
Wear loose fitting, dark clothing – preferably a sundress – along with sandals.
The spray washes out of most clothing very easily but will stain garments containing nylon so please don’t wear them. The tanning takes 15 to 20 minutes but you will need to wait 10 minutes for drying time.
Following the application
Immediately following your tanning application you should not for at least 5 hours
• wash your hands
•wear tight clothing
• exercise – perspiring immediately after tanning interferes with the chemical reaction
• sim or immerse yourself in water
• apply moisturizer
• wear shoes or sock – sandals are recommended
Due to the reaction of the active ingredients some clients may notice a starch like smell on their skin; this will disappear with the post-tan shower.
Post tan shower
Wait at least 8 hours before showering or bathing. You need to allow time for the reaction to take place – the longer the better. Do not be alarmed if you see colour washing off the first time you shower, as this is just the surface colour application. Your skin will continue to tan as the reaction works on your skin.
Maintenance
Apply moisturizer morning and evening after the post tan shower. A well-hydrated skin is essential for the prolonged life of your tan. Lotions containing alpha-hydroxy acids increase exfoliation and will accelerate the fading process of your tan and should, therefore, be avoided.
